Nah, Steve Harris is the superior bass player. Burton was good, but Harris is far more unique. You hear a Maiden bass line and it's instantly recognisable.
I hold Steve haris in the highest regards as one of the greatest bassists ever.
however you mentioned unique.-
I would give that to Cliff.
Steve is more technical.
More of a "by the book"- with a rapid 'tri finger galloping' (unique in that sense) style.
Cliff was simply unfuckingleashed.
Love your mention of my 2'nd favorite basist ever & thank you for the input.
It is simply my opinion that cliff was the true 'candle snuffed out long before'...
